Flickr Link

I thought that I’d throw a link to my Flickr Photostream on here. While lately a lot of the pics have been of my baby daughter Mira, there are a lot of shots from my various adventures.

If one would be so inclined, you can go right over here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/xmetal/

Nine Inch Nails - Lights in the Sky

August 24th, 2008 Paul

I got to go see Nine Inch Nails in Cleveland and all I can say is “Wow.” What an awesomely great show. The visuals were just amazing, with multiple “see-through” LED lattices of some kind that created an amazing atmosphere and effects. Being a designer-type, I was terribly impressed. I had jumped on the fan club a few months back so I got tickets on the floor, so we were able to be in a great spot, dead center and only about 50′ from the stage.

I’ve got some pics in one of my Flickr albums. The iPhone doesn’t exactly do the best pictures when in the dark being blasted by strobes, but you’ll get the idea. If you are even remotely interested in them, I can highly recommend the show. They played a great mix of old and new and went for well over two hours.

A+, and I can’t wait for the tour DVD.

Added Some ‘History’

July 15th, 2008 Paul

I just added a new section to the site entitled History. It’s a very interesting and eye-opening exercise to look back at where you came from. My first real foray into design and computers was in 1989, which is scarily close to two decades ago. Amazing how time flies. I can actually still recall sitting at my cramped little desk in the basement playing with some newfangled 3D program that struggled mightily to create a shaded sphere.

And then there is Photoshop 1.0, the one program that almost single-handedly launched digital imaging as we know it today. One of my biggest regrets is that I lost my copy of that single 800k floppy. Darn it.

I’ve had the good fortune to get to work on a pretty wide variety of stuff over the years.  Looking back on some of it, I feel actual physical pain in how horrible it was by todays standards, and I often fringe when looking at the “ancient stuff.” At the time though, most of that was pretty hot stuff and it all added to my skill and perspective.

I hope the next couple decades stay interesting and let me push the envelope further and further.
